Description

$2000.00 supplement in addition to the base salary.

 

Overall Purpose 

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides ongoing support to students with behavioral and mental health needs. Under the supervision of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the RBT assists in preparing and implementing behavior plans and collecting, and inputting relevant data.

 

To provide support to the instructional program within assigned classrooms with specific

responsibility for working with individual and/or small groups of students; and providing clerical support to teacher/s and staff.

  

Essential Functions

  • Provide classroom support as assigned by the BCBA. 
  • Monitor behavior plans for students receiving behavioral and mental health services. 
  • Carry out behavior interventions and assist with implementation of behavior intervention plans.
  • Collect data and metrics on student progress on behavior goals in student IEPs and behavior plans.
  • Participate in debriefings to help support students and staff.
  • Use open communication, a team approach, and maintain a positive attitude toward program function and goals. 
  • Implement and promote positive behavior interventions.
  • Promote a safe learning environment through continuous supervision of assign student(s) across school-wide learning environments.
  • Implement and utilize MindSet de-escalation and restraint procedures as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.

60 Semester hours of college credit from an accredited educational institution or

a passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment required.

Current Registered Behavior Technician certification or be eligible and hold certification within one semester.

Successful experience in job related areas is preferred.

 

Physical Requirements

Requires the ability to respond quickly to active and aggressive children, adolescents, and young adults ages 5 to 22. Physical response may include evasion and/or performing approved escorts, holds, and restraints to maintain student and staff safety. These activities may require the ability to run, use of arms in deflecting, restraining, or holding for periods of time with a moderate to high level of force, use of torso and hips to balance or hold, and ability to kneel and rise, or lie on the ground and rise swiftly and safely.

 

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
