Overall Purpose
To provide support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific
responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non – classroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and attending IEP meetings.
Essential Functions
- Provides individualized academic and therapeutic interventions as directed by the teacher.
- Assists in the preparation of materials for the therapeutic and academic classroom.
- Consults daily with the teacher regarding student progress and techniques/strategies used with each student.
- Participates, as directed, in daily/weekly debriefing sessions with the treatment team members.
- Attends Rutland staff meetings, training sessions, and professional learning activities as directed.
- At all times, conducts himself/herself in a professional manner.
- Completes other duties as assigned by the Director
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.
60 Semester hours of college credit from an accredited educational institution or
a passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment required.
Successful experience in job related area preferred.
Physical Requirements
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.
Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.
Education/Training
Maintains all licenses and certifications.
