Overall Purpose
To strengthen the quality of instruction which will result in improvement in student achievement.
Essential Functions
- Support the mission, vision, and beliefs of the district and school
- Promote district and school improvement plans
- Increase the quality and effectiveness of instruction through collaboration, co-planning, training, and modeling
- Provide specific and purposeful feedback to teachers that reflects evidence-based best practices
- Work collaboratively with district staff and other Instructional Coaches to continuously reflect on current work and improve practice
- Maintain ongoing and open communication with school leadership regarding all facets of the instructional program of the school
- Design, facilitate, and/or coordinate professional learning for instructional staff
- Lead teachers in analyzing formal and informal student achievement data and using the results of this analysis to improve teaching and learning
- Examine, assess, and assist with selection of appropriate instructional materials and instructional activities
- Assist teachers with planning, sequencing, and scaffolding of instruction
- Remain abreast of and familiar with current research, literature, and technical sources of information related to instructional improvement
- Perform other related, Title I-allowable duties as assigned
Requirements
Master’s degree or higher
Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in appropriate field; Coaching Endorsement preferred
Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience
Physical Requirements
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.
Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.
Education/Training
Maintains all licenses and certifications.
